New IKEA Warehouse supplied with climatization from heat pumps

Apr. 29, 2008 - In a recently opened IKEA warehouse in Karlstad (Sweden) 85% of the heating demand and 75% of the cooling demand is supplied by heat pumps.

101 holes, each 120m deep, provide 1.200kW of heating and 800kW of cooling. Due to the success of the installation, IKEA plans to equip further new warehouse buildings with heat pumps.

In its global strategy to increase the share of renewables in its total energy demand, IKEA has reached a share of 91% in Sweden an 40% in its global operations.
