The award honors companies and individuals for outstanding contributions in the fields of renewable energy, energy conservation, and environmental responsibility. Winners are selected from among 700 applicants world wide, and are chosen by an international jury comprised of prominent scientific, academic, and industry leaders. The award recognizes MENA Geothermal's landmark UCI Headquarters building in Ramallah, Palestine, which houses the Middle East and North Africa's largest certified commercial application of geothermal heating and cooling technology.
